Photovoltaic Tree

The Photovoltaic Tree is a sustainable installation located in a public square in Punta del Hidalgo, a small town in the north coast of Tenerife. The structure is inspired by one of the most characteric native tree species: the Dracaena draco or Drago, which is also considered a symbol of the island.
The concept of the project was a geometrical interpretation of the iconic plant, reducing such an organic form to the simplest forms.
The faceted concrete trunk and coated steel branches hold 6 solar panels that collect enough energy to provide a free WiFi service in the area and feed the street light and irrigation system of the public space allowing it to be energetically independent and completely sutainable.
